“A challenge of style and performance” as has defined the designer Giovanni Ceccarelli his latest design, “an yacht that looks into the future, but with solid roots in the tradition”
The project CYD 146 for Cantiere Navale De Cesari has been conceived thinking about the classics, but with modern hull and appendages, similar to America’s Cup projects “Mascalzone Latino” and “+39 Challenge” where Giovanni Ceccarelli was Principal Designer.
A very graceful yacht on water which does not go unnoticed neither for its elegance at mooring and navigation nor for its performance.
An yacht designed for easy sailing, even short handled, thanks to the simplified maneuvers, with great performance and seaworthy, due to the balanced volume distribution and U-section hull shape.
The vessel is build of laminated mahogany and teak deck, by the yard’s master craftsmen using the West System epoxy bonding, a stablished technique by the boatyard.
A boat fitted for the weekend, easy to maneuver thanks to the self-tacking jib, halyards and sheets sent to the cockpit, but with a minimal interior to rest.
The beauty of that wood construction is emphasized in this project, with the interior and most of the deck house will be clear varnished.
The sail plan is designed with large square top mainsail, design solution to recall the low aspect ratio gaff rigged classic boats, a self-tacking jib and a code 0 mounted on a fixed bowsprit, which is to be made in carbon fiber and covered with wood. Is also possible to rig a gennaker on the bowsprit.
Simple interiors with double berth on the bow, dinette, sink, kitchen and a hidden chemical wc, all made with clear finished wooden.
It is possible to have the mast and boom all carbon.
