''Little Johnka''  was commissioned by the Polish champion skipper Konrad Smolen and constructed at his yard Stocznia Ustka Boatbuilders Sp. Z.O.O in 2005 (today Caravela Shipyard) in Ustka. Konrad wanted an easy to transport boat to competing under IRC. He noticed the boat Per Elisa, which seemed to win all Quarter Ton races of the time. He found and contacted the designer and asked him to draw a new boat for him. Giovanni Ceccarelli and Juan de Garay designed the boat and sails at the same time that they supported the Americas Cup team +39 Challenge. Their goal was to build a power machine that can be trailed from competition to competition and from spot to spot.
